Having worked in diverse industries, from direct marketing and digital strategy to property management, they are passionate about fostering community engagement, enhancing communication, and contributing to the long-term success of MCC of the Rockies.

As a Board Member, Alex Ortiz is committed to supporting initiatives that improve the brand outreach to the greater Denver area. They are particularly focused on leveraging their expertise in digital marketing and communication strategies to increase outreach, collaboration, and the visibility of the church.

John is a Family Practice Physician at Denver Health and a Capital Hill Neighbor! He joined MCCR in San Francisco in 1993 and began attending MCC of the Rockies in 2013. As a “PK” he is a recovering Presbyterian and a queer spiritual seeker.

Al has been involved in the Denver community both church and neighborhood organizations for many years. He has been attending MCCR for 27+ years. He has been part of the choir, worship team, and treasury team. He continues to volunteer where he is needed.

Lay Leader Rev. Royal D. Bush

Royal grew up in Nebraska first attending MCC Omaha in his early 20’s, he went on to attend and volunteer for many years, including serving as Minister of Hospitality.

Royal created a non-profit outreach Inclusive Life that provided pastoral care for all without exception, street outreach, and prison ministry.

Today, in Denver, Royal continues to volunteer and network within the community, and providing pastoral care at MCCR.

His mantra remains: “You matter. No matter who you are, where you are from, who you love, what you believe or don’t believe; you are beautiful, loved, and worthy just as you are!”
